Card Buffet

I am so sad to be leaving my favorite Designer Series Papers behind and some of my favorite stamp sets, but so excited that the new catalog goes live tomorrow!  The last two months I have started having card buffets.  We are having so much fun at these classes.  I have been using retiring paper and falling in love with them and today is the last day to order them.  I found my mojo yesterday and I have been designing cards like crazy.  Here are the cards for our next buffet:

Sail Away Scrapbook Page

This scrapbook page was part of the Soul Scrappers SSQ8 challenge.  They sent me an envelope of embellishments and I had to use all of them on the page.  Several items on this page are retiring on June 30th, so you still have an opportunity to purchase them before they are gone.  For instance, I used the Presto Patterns Specialty paper as my background page.  I used the Direct to Paper Technique for this page.  The Presto Patterns comes white with an embossed image on it.  I added ink by taking the ink pad and rubbing it all over the paper and the white lines were reveled.  I cut out old blue jeans with the Top Note Die.  Isn't it cool how the Top Note fits into the Presto Patterns?  The other tools that will be retiring are the Cogs Extra-Large Double punch and the Star Extra-Large Punch.
There are also two preview items from the new 2011-2012  Idea Book and Catalog.  See the banner?  It was made with the new Petite Pennants Builder Punch, isn't it too cute?  See the two circles under the globe?  They were made with the new Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die.
If you don't have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator of your own, please consider letting me be yours.  Drop me a note and I'll explain my online club to you.

VC Rocks! Blog Hop - Big Shot Madness

  VCRocksBlogheader
This hop is all about the Big Shot!  I decided my theme would be Recycle on the Big Shot.  I have three projects for this hop and the first project came about with the left overs from my upcoming Build a Blossom Scrapbook Pages.  I had all of the lovely negatives left from using the Swirly Sizzlit Decorative Strip Die(which retires at the end of June).  So here is the card that I designed for using that negative image:

Swirly Fabulous Florets
Recipe:
Stamp:  Fabulous Florets

This cute pin was designed by Annette E. Martin and I had found it over on our demonstrator board.  I fell in love with it, so I found a pair of the DH old blue jeans and made this pin, isn't it too cute?

Accessories:  Big Shot, Bigz L Fun Flowers Die, Pin, Very Worn Blue Jeans

Butterfly Heaven
Side View
Well, I started using a different kind of dryer sheet and noticed how thick they were and thought, a flower!  The flower was made by cutting seven dryer sheets doubled on a Flowers #3 Die(Retired), then sprayed with my own home-made Rose Red Shimmer Spray(come back next week and I will have a tutorial on how to make this spray).  I was so pleased with how it turned out.  The large butterfly was made using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and three different papers.  I colored some of our Basic Rhinestones with a permanent ink marker and added Dazzling Diamonds around the edge.  I was very pleased with how this one came out.  I will be teaching this card in July at our technique class.

Recipe:
Stamp:  Swirls & Curls Verses(Summer Mini Hostess)
Paper:
Confetti White(I love to use this for a card base because it is so heavy), Peach Parfait, Blushing Bride, Beyond the Garden DSP, Presto Patterns Specialty DSP(I inked this up using the Direct to Paper technique), Vellum Card Stock
Ink:  Certainly Celery, Rose Red
Accessories:  Big Shot, Flowers #3 Die(Retired), Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads, Basic Rhinestones, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Two Way Glue Pen, White Baker's Twine

PPA97-Fashion Inspiration-What's Your Signature Style

I have been creating cards for my card buffet on June 27th and ran across the Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week of :Fashion Inspiration-What's Your Signature Style.  I definitely am a vintage kind of girl.  My ladies are always asking: "What do I sponge", and my answer: "Sponge stain everything".  LOL

Open Sea Papier Mache Book/Box

This class is set for June 13th, Monday, at 7pm.  I think this project would be great for the man of your life for their wallet and keys.  It would make a great Father's Day present or birthday present.

Open Sea Box

I just love this stamp set and unfortunately it is not in the new Idea Book for 2011-12.  We will also be using a Brayer and the Circle Scissor Plus to create this unique box.  I have several ladies to thank for inspiring me, first is Trina Kuriger for her tutorial on the Sailor's Knot and also Wendy Weixler for the ship in the sunset.

Father's Day Cards

Wow, a lot of things have been happening in my life since I last posted.  My SIL, Andrew, has finished his residency and graduated.  My daughter, Luella and he will be moving to Plattville, WI and buying their first home.  My husband, Scott was awarded with the Boy Scout, Silver Beaver Award for Volunteering.  Willie, our son and his wife came up from Louisiana for a visit and Willie presented Scott with the award.  Willie found out last week that now he is the high school band lead teacher.  So now back to normal life.

Well, I finally got the mojo back and finished these cards last night.  I also have three lovely ladies who inspired me in the process.  All three of these would also make a great male birthday card.

Best Dad Ever Tie Card
The first card I have Natalie Decker to thank for.  I loved her card, but I thought that this stamp set would be great using the technique paper piecing.  What a great way to use up small pieces of dsp.  First stamp the image on Very Vanilla card stock, then stamp the image on five different pieces of patterned paper, then cut each individual image out and use dimensionals to pop up the cut out image over the stamped image.  I love the 3-d effect.

Stamps:  Best Dad Ever
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Old Olive Retired DSP
Ink:  Soft Suede
Accessories:  Early Espresso Baker's Twine, 3/16" Corner Small Punch, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder

Totally Tool Dad Card
The next card was inspired by Becky Roberts.  What a creative way to use the Totally Tool tape measure.

Open Sea Father's Day Card
I have Dawn Dickinson to thank for the inspiration on this one.  I love how she wrapped the baker's twine around the edges of the card.  I inked up the stamp with markers for the two-toned look.
