Soul Scrap Quest #10 - There's Something About Christmas!!

SSQ#10 Martin Christmas
Over at Soul Scrappers I am participating in a scrap challenge and here were the rules:
This Quest allows you to create anything you want......

What makes this a QUEST unique..... is that until you open your envelope you are really not going to know what is in it, and what you are expected to use.   Some of the embellies could be shop bought, painted items,  stickers,  stamped images,  polymer clay items,  metal items,  hand pieced images,  handmade flowers, sewn items,  felt items etc......... the list goes on!! I will post a list of the goodies here, once all envelopes have been received.

Well, when I received the envelope it was FULL of items to use on my project.  And I managed to use it all.  I also got to use a new Stampin' Up! Big Shot die that will be coming out on January 4th in the new Occasions Mini Catalog. See the large Rosette on the background?  That new die really made this rosette or lollie easy as pie to make.  So here are some more pictures with details.  I believe that I have more stuff on this page than ever before.  Come join us over at Soul Scrappers and have fun scrapping with us.  I have a button on the right to take you there.

Technique Class

Tonight is Technique Class at my home.  We will be learning two new techniques that I have been wanting to do for a long time.  The first is the Stained Mosaic Technique.

Christmas Postcard Stained Mosaic
You can find the directions for this technique here: Stained Mosaic and the second technique can be found here: Wax Paper Resist .

Season of Joy Wax Paper Resist

I used the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for this card and Cherry Cobbler ink.  Don't you just love it?  I'll be using this technique again.

Stampin Llamas Holiday Blog Hop

Mocha Morning Christmas
Don't you just love this paper?  The paper on the front of this card has black flocking on it.  I thought that the swirl on it closely resembled the swirl on the Baroque Motifs stamp set, so I used that swirl with Versamark on the crumb cake on the Merry Christmas panel in the front and on the insert inside.  The Merry Christmas was from the Hand-Penned Holidays and embossed with gold.  All of these card will be included in the next Card Buffet on Wednesday.
Distressed Welcome Christmas
Lovely as a Tree stamp set is so versatile, it can be used year around.  I embossed the single pine using Wild Wasabi embossing powder and the sentiment, Welcome Christmas into your heart, from the Four the Holidays stamp set was embossed in Pewter embossing powder.  I then distressed all of the layers using our Distressing Tool in the Cutter Kit.  Then I sponged all the layers with Soft Suede ink.  I added two of our new Mini Jingle Bells with jute to the retired ribbon that I had also distressed with ink.  I added a pin from the Vintage Trinkets to the right corner of the card.  The second layer of the card is DSP from our new Christmas Lane Scrappin' Kit.
Spice Cake Day of Gratitude
Don't you just love the new Spice Cake DSP?  I used the flower from the Day of Gratitude stamp set with Versamark to watermark the card front.  I used the oak leaf from the Leaves #2 Die then embossed them with the Spider Web Embossing Folder.  The Give Thanks is from the new Hand-Penned Holidays stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Thanks for stopping by and here is the next step on our Hop:

VC Rocks! Blog Hop - Punches Galore

Welcome to the last VC Rocks! Hop of the summer.  Those of you who follow me know it has been a really long time since I posted.  I spent more than a week helping my daughter and her husband move, then picked up a virus that has kept me in bed for almost two weeks!  So I haven't had much energy to stamp lately, but picked two cards from our card buffet that I hadn't  blogged about yet that use punches.

Rosette Christmas
The first card pictured I have been so inspired by every one on the web making rosettes.  They are so fun and easy to make especially now that Stampin' Up! has introduced the "Simply Scored" Scoring tool starting September 1st.  It also has a very unique feature added to it and that is place markers.  You just place them on the lines you want to score, no more remembering every time!
The top layer was punched out with the 2 1/2 Circle punch, then it was layered onto the scalloped circle that is on the new Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die in the new catalog.

This next card I fell in love with - purses out of the Cupcake Builder punch - just so cute!  This card could be used for a Thank You, Get Well, Thinking of You... the possibilities are endless.  First you cut out three of the bottoms of the cupcake and turn them upside down.  Then punch three 1/2 circles from the 3/4" Circle Punch, this makes the flap of the purse(On our circle punches at the half-way point, the punch dips down).  Then reinsert the circle punch into the former punched area and punch a slice for the handles.  I attached a pearl and after gluing the entire purse together, used dimensionals to prop it up on the card.  Too cute and so easy to make.

Cookie Exchange at Ann's House

Apron Recipe 3D
Every year my friend Ann has a cookie exchange at her home.  This year she fell in love with the apron on Page 134 of the Idea Book and Catalog and she wanted to do one with a Christmas theme that we could put our exchange recipes in.  Here is the recipe for the apron I modified from VivyJo at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/templates-f143/apron-template-t356387.html :

Stamp: Tags til Christmas #121169 - only available until 1/3/11
Ink:  Classic Cherry Cobbler
Paper: Old Olive, Jolly Holiday DSP #117159, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  Tombow Glue #110755, Paper Snips #103579(best scissors ever!), Craft and Paper Scissors #108360 (cuts ribbon like butter). Scallop Square Extra-Large Punch #119884, Stampin' Dimensionals #104430, Retired Old Olive 1/2" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

She made us a table runner with a honey bee theme since my husband Scott is a bee keeper(11 hives to date).  Here is a pic of the very cute runner:
She even added cute bee buttons on both ends.  What a dear friend, thanks Ann!
